Back in 1987 Vladimir's Universe began playing at Cross Street Station in Ypsilanti, MI. First on Wednesday open stage nights, then in November we were asked to headline. When I realized it was 25 years ago, I had to do something. But what?
At first I was gonna take some of the old songs from master tapes, remix them and release a "Best of Vladimir's Universe" album. Then I decided it would be fun to redo the old songs, which is what I'm working on.
I like reading about artists and their creative process and I love documentaries about bands. Thus the blog. So you can watch as the project develops But i don't want to have a bunch of posts that say "Hey I practiced my guitar today." That would be lame. So I'll also be telling you about artists that influenced me, things and places that inspired me, talk about songs I wish I wrote, and expose you to songs I like to listen to. In between you'll find new album updates and some Vlad-story.
I live in Ypsilanti again after trying out San Francisco (2 years), Toledo (12 years), and Denver (3 years). With a wife, family, and demanding job I don't get much time out and about. I will, however, make time to get you this new album by November.
Stay tuned
